The Vertex team was looking for a smart way to convert an existing aluminum plate bender, to a heated version, and then do the same with polyester plates. In addition to developing a clever way to roll by hand and engage with heat at the right time, Vertex’s designers also came up with a two-part cover design, one from one vacuum formed piece and the other as the metal base. These two custom cover parts house the internal mechanism and electronics.
